Bangladeshi border guards arrest many Rohingyas

Over a hundred Rohingyas have been arrested by the Border Guard Bangladesh 
(BGB) since the beginning of January, according to a Teknaf trader.

CNF opens new headquarters

The Chin National Front (CNF) have re-established their headquarters 
in Than Tlang Township, Chin state, following agreements that were reached 
during union-level peace negotiations with the central government. 
The new headquarters has been named Camp Victoria - the same as the one
 it replaced in India, but was closed in 2005 after pressure by the Indian government.

China Unicom to invest $40million in new Internet cable

Mizzima has learned of a deal that will see US $40 million invested in a fiber optic 
cable that will help to improve Burma's Internet connection. The agreement 
was signed at the end of 2012 between Burma’s Ministry 
of Communications and China Unicom.


$44 million awarded to rural companies

It was announced on Monday that 47 companies across Burma have won 
a portion of a 37,700 million kyat (US $44 million) tender to work on rural 
development projects in their respective states.



Burma, Singapore to strengthen military cooperation

A UK Foreign Office Minister on Monday addressed a question in Parliament 
about the conflict in Kachin State, saying the British government was “deeply concerned” 
by reports of an escalation in hostilities, including the use of Burmese military 
helicopters and aircraft against Kachin Independence Army positions near state capital Laiza.
